Julieann Giannone
Equine Specialist, EAGALA certified

Equine Specialist, Julieann has loved horses for as long as she can remember. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, she recalls visiting an aunt and uncle’s farm in New Jersey. Her aunt had horses and during one visit, her cousin woke her in the middle of the night and brought her to the barn. There on the straw, was a newborn foal. For the remainder of the visit, she was utterly enthralled and has not looked back.

Any opportunity to be near horses was taken advantage of, and she graduated from Cobleskill College with an Animal Science/Equine concentration degree. Between college, Julieann walked horses at Aqueduct and Belmont racetracks, and retrained a harness bred horse for riding. Upon graduation, she worked in the mounted unit of the New York City Parks Department and taught riding at a local stable in Brooklyn. Although she loved riding for a living, Julieann had the most enjoyment teaching local children about horses in the city’s numerous recreational centers. This led to a decision to become a school teacher, eventually earning a Master’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.

Julieann and her husband moved to Delaware in 2005, and in 2014 she met Rosemary and Linda. She had originally expressed interest in volunteering, but with encouragement pursued training in the Eagala model. “Working for Courageous Hearts has opened up a new and unique way to continue to be around horses, and help people.” Having seen firsthand the healing the horses offer, Julieann continues to work on her craft, and continues her love affair with equines.
